4.5 Stars It was Thursday morning. The second day of the family beach vacay and we needed nourishment in a bad way. Cafe Frederica, here we come. We rolled up there at around 11 o'clock 9 deep and they seated us immediately. The place is nice and cozy with a toy train tracks that circle the whole place. Very kitschy in a Mr. Rogers Neighborhood sorta way. Unfortunately, the toy train wasn't working on this particular day. The kids were devastated but I think that they'll get over it in time. Cafe Frederica serves breakfast and lunch only. I think they close at 2 o'clock each day. Anyway, the coffee was pretty good as was the orange juice. For breakfast, I ordered 2 eggs with country ham, grits, some grapefruit sections, and an english muffin. My girl ordered an omelet with crab meat, mushrooms, onions, and swiss cheese. The food was solid and reasonably priced. My girl's omelet was pretty good as were my grits. A few of my kin folk ordered the eggs benedict and told me that it was out of this world. My only real complaint with my food was that the ham was pretty overdone and the grapefruit wasn't very good. In fairness, when your server reminds you (which he did) that it's "grapefruit sections" and not fresh grapefruit, you should know what you're getting into. What made me give this place 4.5 stars was the amazing service. Our waiter K.K. was everything you could ask for in a waiter at a place like this. My coffee and water were always full, he was great with the kids, and he always had a smile on his face. The food came out very quickly and K.K. even took a pretty good picture of us to boot. While I recognize his artistic talent at photography, I really hope that K.K. will not quit his day job as he is an amazing waiter. I highly recommend this place to those visiting St Simons.

Whether you happen to be visiting the Golden Isles of Southern GA - or you happen to be stuck here involuntarily for several months - if you're like me, you'll be craving a good sandwich about mid-week, and a decent brunch by week-end. Cafe Frederica has it both, in addition to fantastic, friendly service, warm and fuzzy digs, and exclusivity (it's off a side road in a shopping center, and I've never had to wait on a table). Plus, a decent cup of coffee, and some of the best key lime pie, I'm told. Brunch recs: the locally obtained crabmeat omelet, some homemade hash browns, and a warm, freshly glazed cinnamon roll. Lunch: the Reuben and a side of pasta salad. If you're craving good eats and a local, down-home feel, this place has got both, and then some.

We stumbled on this tucked away little restaurant a few years ago and every trip to SSI stop by for either lunch or breakfast. Every item I have tried has been exceptional. The omelets are light and fluffy. Their chicken salad awesome. Staff are friendly and attentive. We know that it is a regular stop for the locals who knows best for good places to eat.

Just great. Went here last year because of a recommendation. Returned this year. Great prices, kind service and good food. Will return.

Awesome little bistro! An island favorite for many years! Great Breakfast! Love the Eggs Benedict! Service is small-town friendly and prompt :) Comfortable atmosphere is made even more magical with an elevated Model Train making its rounds overhead the diners while enjoying their meals.

Quaint little cafe. Breakfast wasn't bad. They need to dust the tracks on that train that runs above your head.

I wouldn't say it's the most amazing breakfast, but it's definitely a step up from Waffle House or Denny's. The menu is limited and very basic. My boyfriend and I both got eggs Benedict, mine with bacon and his with corn beef hash instead of ham. It was okay, nothing to write home about. We also got cheese grits as a side, which is where my comparison to Waffle House comes into play- they were just SO watery! The cheese thickened them up a little bit, but they were still pretty runny. Making them on a stovetop instead of a microwave would be an easy fix to that! Maybe I'll try again, but would rather check out the other breakfast places in SS first.

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being best). This place is a 2-3. At best maybe even a 2.5.. Avoid if possible. Nothing at all special about the food but the service was beyond bad. There are many many many better choices on SSI.. This is one of the worst. Coffee never refilled Toast not delivered with the meal Just mediocre all around! The greatest sin? The grits were instant and just plain BAD. You ought to be ashamed! No self respecting Southerner would serve instant grits..

Delicious omelette and blueberry pancakes- nice crowd - a lot of locals - hidden off of frederica road near sea island causeway

Lots of things not available on Sunday- specials, seafood sammie, soups. Food was just really only OK- nothing special & nothing stood out. Service was via who ever came by, not one particular person. In our experience, 4th of May, Barbara Jeans, or Palmers would have worked better for us.

My friend and I came here for breakfast as I visiting Sea Island for a wedding. Very cute and quaint local breakfast spot. Food was great, we ordered the eggs benedict, an omelet, corned beef hash, home fries, and the most amazing french roll french toast ever!! One tip: this place gets really crowded so be prepared to wait.

This place was hard to find but worth the extra effort. It almost seems like the owners chose this location just so only it's most ardent and loyal locals could find it. I ordered the french toast, two poached eggs and a side of bacon. I left with a smile on my face. A perfect place (if you can find it) for a delicious breakfast.

Used Yelp to help track down a good place for breakfast while visiting St. Simons. Cafe Fredeica looked like my kind of place so I gave it a shot. Fantastic choice. It's always amazing to me when I go into places to order the simplest of meals, breakfast, and it's disappointing. Cafe Frederica is not one of those places. Everything I ordered was prepared perfectly. I will be heading there for breakfast one more time before I leave the Island!

Now there was nothing wrong with this place but it certainly is a basic breakfast place with a basic menu. Food was good as were prices but if you're looking for something out of the ordinary go to Palmer's in the village.

Best breakfast on the island. Wonderful service. I usually get the french toast. I would have to recommend anyone.

My kids loved this little place - their second favorite lunch to home! Super friendly staff, nice selection of food with high quality ingredients, and a relaxed setting with charming decor. We will be back!

Loved it! Really good quality breakfast food and very friendly people. The place is difficult to find, and your GPS won't necessarily help (ous didn't) but worth it.

AHHHH MAYYYY ZING! That pretty much sums up every dish we tried at Cafe Frederica (CF). Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, we found this hidden gem while visiting St. Simon Island for my sister's wedding. My immediate family and I visited CF the morning of the wedding. We were so impressed that we decided to eat breakfast there, again, the morning after the wedding (this time with a party of about 20). The restaurant is small, so there was a brief wait. However, the staff was very accommodating. I ordered french toast one day, and shared an order of home fries with baby sis. The next day I ordered a breakfast sandwich with home fries (no sharing this time around ). Both dishes were delicious, but the french toast was my favorite dish! My palate was rejoicing! Two pieces of french bread dipped in a subtly sweet batter with a hint of vanilla (so it seemed) and perfectly grilled to a nice golden brown. This french toast is certainly in my top three so far (only second to the french toast at Orsay restaurant in Jacksonville and third to the white chocolate & orange french toast served at Tableau in Vegas ... yep, it's that great!). I also had the pleasure of tasting some of the following dishes, again all very delicious: pancakes, blueberry pancakes, veggie omelet. Four stars from me for this little gem found in the Brunswick/St. Simon area!

Absolute favorite for locals - best breakfast on the island. Small and often requires a short wait, but well worth it.

This is a great Island restaurant for breakfast and lunch. They close every day at 2:00 but are open for dinner of Friday and Saturday night. My favorites are their eggs Benedict and the shrimp salad with the Caesar dressing. Not very big so there is usually a short wait. The staff is very friendly and knows most of the locals. It is kind of hidden off Frederica Road. This restaurant is very popular for the after church groups and there is usually a wait at that time.

Open everyday from 7:30 AM - 2:00 PM, Cafe Frederica is a sweet little breakfast and lunch spot that's guaranteed to be hustling and bustling. It has a menu of lunch and breakfast selections, and the specials are excellent as well. Despite its popularity, you are always seated relatively quickly. The service is prompt and the foods are prepared with fresh, tasty ingredients and displayed artfully on the plate. I have never had a bad meal at Cafe Frederica. Consistent, great, and friendly place to eat!

Great little place, kinda had to find and had drive around to find it but food was good, coffee was strong and the atmosphere was great! Highly recommend, scant places to catch a good breakfast around the island.

We had a delicious breakfast here over President's Day weekend. It's a really cute restaurant. There were lots of locals enjoying southern breakfast classics. We had grits, country ham, biscuits, eggs && a warm & gooey cinnamon bun. Everyone was friendly. Our kayak guide, a local, told us that Cafe Frederica has the best breakfast on the island.

I love Cafe Frederica! The staff is always so friendly and attentive. I used to take a group of senior citizens here regularly as I knew I could count on the staff to take care of our special needs. And they always did! My favorite meal is the creamed chipped beef - a favorite of my childhood that is rare to find in a restaurant (indeed, Cafe Frederica is the only place I've ever seen it on the menu.) I've never ordered anything else, though I've tasted several things that other people got, and everything's always been great. I highly recommend!

A small hole in the wall which would be difficult to find without GPS. (Google Navigator had no trouble finding it.) The food was good with excellent egg sandwiches. My companion said that the French toast was the best she had ever had. Overall, we really liked the place and it was kid friendly too. Definitely worth a visit.
